Amazing Beaches
Sitges is one of those rare coastal towns where every beach feels like it has its own personality. Some are energetic and social, others are quiet and cinematic, and a few feel almost untouched despite being close to Barcelona. What surprised me most about Sitges wasn’t just the beauty of the Mediterranean coastline — it was how different the atmosphere becomes every few hundred meters.
Below is a curated list of the most famous beaches in Sitges:
1. San Sebastian beach
Address: Passeig de la Ribera, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, Spain
Rating: 4.5 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
If I had to recommend just one beach in Sitges to first-time visitors, this would probably be it. San Sebastian Beach captures almost everything that makes Sitges special: calm Mediterranean water, charming old-town scenery, relaxed restaurants, and a very local atmosphere that never feels too commercial.
What I personally loved most here was the balance. Some beaches in Spain are beautiful but chaotic. Others are peaceful but feel disconnected from the town. San Sebastian somehow manages both. You can spend the morning swimming in calm water, walk a few steps to a terrace for seafood and sangria, and then watch the sunset with the church towers glowing behind you.
This beach feels especially authentic in the evening. Once the daytime crowds leave, locals come out for walks along the promenade and the atmosphere becomes incredibly cinematic. It honestly feels like one of those Mediterranean towns people imagine when they dream about moving to Spain.
For photography, this is easily one of the best spots in Sitges. The combination of old architecture, golden sand, fishing boats, and warm evening light makes almost every photo look professional.
2. Platja de la Ribera
Address: Passeig de la Ribera, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, Spain

Personal Review
La Ribera is the beating heart of Sitges beach life. If San Sebastian feels elegant and local, La Ribera feels alive. This is the beach where you really feel the social energy of the town.
During summer, the promenade is packed with travelers, beach cafés, cyclists, music, and people simply enjoying the Mediterranean lifestyle. What I liked most is that even though it’s busy, it never feels aggressive or stressful like some overcrowded resort beaches elsewhere in Europe.
This is probably the best beach for travelers who want convenience. Everything is nearby — restaurants, bars, hotels, shopping streets, beach rentals, and nightlife. You can literally walk from breakfast to the beach to cocktails within minutes.
Personally, I think this is the ideal “first day in Sitges” beach because it immediately introduces you to the atmosphere of the town. It’s colorful, international, relaxed, and effortlessly social. During Pride and Carnival season, this area becomes one giant outdoor celebration and completely transforms into a festival atmosphere.
3. Platja de la Fragata
Address: Near Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, 08870 Sitges, Spain
Ratings: 4.5 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
Fragata Beach is one of the most visually iconic places in Sitges because of its location directly beneath the famous white church. The scenery almost looks unreal in person, especially during golden hour.
What stood out to me most was the energy. This beach attracts a younger and more active crowd. There are volleyball courts, water sports, and lots of movement throughout the day. Compared to the more relaxed beaches nearby, Fragata feels sporty and social.
I think this is one of the best beaches for travelers who get bored simply lying in the sun. There’s always something happening here. Even if you’re not participating in activities, it’s entertaining to watch the atmosphere around you.
The church backdrop also makes this one of the best beaches in Sitges for Instagram and travel photography. Honestly, almost every angle looks postcard-worthy.
4. Platja de la Bassa Rodona
Address: Passeig MarĂtim, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, Spain
Ratings: 4.4 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
Bassa Rodona is internationally known as Sitges’ most famous LGBTQ+ beach, but what impressed me most wasn’t the reputation — it was the atmosphere. The beach feels incredibly open, friendly, and welcoming without becoming intimidating or overly exclusive.
There’s a strong sense of freedom here that perfectly matches the identity of Sitges itself. Music plays from nearby beach bars, groups of friends gather all afternoon, and the energy becomes especially lively during Pride season.
Even outside LGBTQ+ events, this beach is one of the most social places in Sitges. If you’re traveling solo, this is probably one of the easiest beaches in Spain to meet people naturally.
What I personally appreciated most was how relaxed everything felt. It’s lively without being pretentious. People genuinely seem happy here, and that atmosphere becomes contagious very quickly.
5. Platja de Terramar
Address: Passeig MarĂtim, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, Spain
Ratings: 4.5 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
Terramar Beach feels completely different from the central beaches. It’s quieter, more elegant, and noticeably less crowded. Personally, this became my favorite place when I wanted to escape the busier parts of Sitges.
The atmosphere here feels almost luxurious without trying too hard. Palm trees line the promenade, the beach is wide and peaceful, and the surrounding villas and hotels create a much more refined mood.
I’d especially recommend this beach to couples, remote workers, or travelers looking for a slower Mediterranean experience rather than nightlife and crowds.
One thing I loved most was the long walk along the promenade at sunset. It’s the kind of place where you suddenly understand why so many people dream about living on the Spanish coast permanently.
6. Platja del Home Mort
Address: Coastal trail south of Sitges near Garraf Natural Park
Ratings: 4.5 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
Home Mort Beach is one of the most unique beaches in Sitges and definitely not your typical tourist beach. Hidden behind cliffs and accessible by a scenic coastal path, it feels far more wild and untouched than the beaches in town.
The journey there is part of the experience. Walking along the rocky coastline with the Mediterranean opening beside you honestly feels cinematic.
This beach is famous for its LGBTQ+ and nudist-friendly atmosphere, but what struck me most was the sense of freedom and nature. Unlike the busy urban beaches, Home Mort feels disconnected from modern life.
I wouldn’t recommend it for families or travelers wanting convenience, but for adventurous visitors, photographers, and people looking for a more authentic coastal experience, this place is unforgettable. The turquoise water and dramatic cliffs create some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere near Barcelona.
7. Platja d’Aiguadolç
Address: Port d’Aiguadolç, 08870 Sitges, Barcelona, Spain
Ratings: 4.5 Stars ![]()

Personal Review
Aiguadolç Beach combines marina views, relaxed beach culture, and a more secluded atmosphere than the central beaches. What I liked most here was the contrast between luxury yachts in the harbor and the relaxed Mediterranean beach vibe.
This beach feels ideal for travelers who enjoy sailing, seafood restaurants, and calmer surroundings. The nearby marina adds a very upscale atmosphere without becoming too exclusive.
Compared to the busier beaches in central Sitges, Aiguadolç feels more mature and peaceful. It’s the kind of beach where you can genuinely spend an entire afternoon reading, swimming, and slowly enjoying the day without rushing anywhere.
The sunsets here are also incredible because of the combination of boats, cliffs, and open sea views.
Final Thoughts
What makes Sitges special isn’t just the beauty of its coastline — it’s the variety. In one small town, you can experience:
- Family-friendly beaches
- LGBTQ+ nightlife beaches
- Hidden nudist coves
- Elegant quiet promenades
- Active sports beaches
- Local Mediterranean culture
Few coastal towns in Europe offer this much personality in such a walkable area. That’s why Sitges feels less like a resort and more like a collection of completely different beach experiences connected by one beautiful Mediterranean promenade.
